About Me
When I started teaching over ten years ago, I never would have imagined that special education would become my focus. My focus was history and civics, and I wanted to impart my knowledge of this subject matter to as many students as possible. While I still believe this is a worthy goal, I discovered that I really wanted to help students learn how they learn best. I found this passion while working with my students in special education. After working with excellent co-teachers in my history classes for years, I took the next logical step, which was to become a co-teacher myself.
For the past several years, I have worked in that capacity in history and English classrooms in the DFW and Permian Basin. I find this work immensely gratifying, and I want to continue working with students in special education in the capacity of an educational diagnostician. This aspect of special education, from the ARD meetings to the cognitive testing, is fascinating and an opportunity to connect very capable students with exceptional teachers. I intend to take full advantage of the chance to help students and families in the Permian Basin and surrounding areas.
